Coach Joe grew up in Riverside, RI, graduated from Seekonk High School in 2006, and then from Roger Williams in 2011 with a BS in General Engineering.

In his earlier years, Joe studied martial arts at the Self Defense Training Center in Riverside from the age of 6-20. He earned his 4th degree black belt in Shaolin Kenpo karate and became an instructor by age 15. He also travelled locally with the school in a demonstration team which put on choreographed performances for special events.

As a Senior in High School and throughout College, Joe competed as a Springboard Diver for the Swimming and Diving team. He then went on to coach the RWU divers for three years once he was ineligible to compete. It was during this timeframe that he truly found a passion for flipping and twisting.

Since then, Joe has been relentlessly studying and practicing gymnastics. Joe started at Bay State Gymnastics Academy learning the basics of spotting. He then studied Recreational and Team Gymnastics at Renaissance Gymnastics Academy for another three years. At Dream Big Gymnastics, Joe coached the Boys Team as well as the Ninja-Sport classes for three more years. Afterwards he moved to Shen's Gymnastics for a year to work with their boys and Xcel teams. In the summer, Joe likes to take 1-2 weeeks and train/perfect his techniques at Woodward in Pennsylvania.

Pursuing his passion has led Joe to many fun places and allowed him to meet some amazing people, but nothing has come close to OSSG. They have really raised the bar with an amazing facility, top notch equipment, and friendly staff/students! OSSG is now his home, and he couldn't be happier to be here.
