About Us

History

OSSG is Rhode Island's oldest, most professional and most gymnastically successful facility. We are one of the countries oldest clubs. Our mission is to make your child's gymnastics experience the most educational, physically enhancing and fun that this sport has to offer. Our senior coaches are all safety certified by the national governing body of gymnastics; USA Gymnastics, Inc.

The Ocean State School of Gymnastics began on January 1st in 1980 at 2352 Mendon Road in Cumberland. We opened our second gym at the North Smithfield ice arean on route 146 in 1983. Both gyms ran sucessfully for three years until the owners of the Mendon Road property decided they wanted to subdivide our space. We moved the entire project over to the ice arena and opened our next satellite program on route 5 in Greenville. In 1992 we expanded and moved to the 9 Rocky Hill Road location in Smithfield and two years later opened our next satellite in Cranston at 33 Freeway Drive. During the 13 years we spent in the Rocky Hill Road location, we sold the Cranston gym, closed the Greenville gym and made the big move to our current location at 3 New England Way.
